Ferret bedding.

What kind of bedding material do most people use in the bottom of a
ferret's cage?  I've been using CareFresh bedding material as
recommended by the pet store when I originally brought my guys home,
but I'm reading in some places about using re-useable cloth items.
 
What do people use as a soft material for the inside of the cage?  Or
do I not need a soft material covering the entire bottom of a plastic
bottom cage?
