Yes, Debbie Riccio, I think those all sound like good reasons to change vets.
 
I also agree that at 5 years, a ferret needs a full annual checkup,
including a full blood test (CBC and chemistry panel) and distemper and
rabies vaccinations.  Also, one of the vets here, I think it's Dr.  Weiss,
recommends a stool test to look for occult blood.
