I took Axel in Mon. for bloodwork. He's been a bit lethargic lately and I
thought he might be losing some weight. (He was neutered about 5 months
ago. I suppose the weight loss may be just loss of muscle mass.) The way
things have been going for me lately I decided to take him in for a
checkup. The results came back yesterday. All his values were low. My
vet felt that since they were all low that it could be due to lab error
and she wants to repeat the tests. I took him in this morning and she
sent the blood off to another lab. The lab gave his glucose level as 50.
Unfortunately, his glucose level today was 60. Still low. My vet thought
he might just be off his feed and that could cause the low BG reading.
She doesn't want to make any diagnosis till the lab results come back.
But I was wondering at what level should I begin to start thinking of
surgery? Or should I just try to regulate him with diet? I'm really
paranoid right now after having lost two fuzzies in the last month. Axel
is very special to me and I want to catch anything that might be wrong
with him early. Anyone who goes to shows may know Axel. He's the
"praying" ferret. Thanks for any suggestions.

Cindy

BTW, Axel just turned 4 last month.
