For those who wash their ferret bedding in bleach or a parvocide - that
is certainly not going to hurt, and may even kill a lot of germs and
bacteria.  I am not saying that people shouldn't do this.  I am only
saying that you need to understand that parvocides are made and tested
on hard (non porous) surfaces, and there is no guarantee that they will
be completely effective on cloth items.
 
Bedding is not cheap, but not so expensive that throwing it away and
getting new bedding should not be considered when trying to clean up
after having ADV in your house.
 
As for carpeting and upholstered furniture, just spraying their surface
with a parvocide will not be effective.  If you want to make them safe
for new ferrets, you need to do more.
 
At this time no one really knows for sure what is needed to make them
safe - no research on this has been done.  And, many people can not
afford to recarpet and refurnish their homes just to get new ferrets.
Steam cleaning several times will certainly help to make it safer,
though, by lifting out particles.  If you want - add a parvocide to the
water instead of soap.  That won't hurt.  But know that there are no
guarantees, either.
 
I honestly hope some day to be free of ADV and to have ferrets that are
ADV- and have never been exposed.  Only time will tell if that will be
possible, though.
