Hi. i am a recent subscriber to the mailing list but already feel right at
home. Just a few things to post.

First, i just wanted to relay something that happened, to save any other
ferrets. Our albino fuzzbutt, Bailey, prematurely crossed the rainbow
bridge because of our litter box and me not paying enough attention. We
have a litter box which slides out to be cleaned. One evening after
cleaning the box, i slid it back in and counted fuzzies to make sure that
everyone was in the cage and okay. All six were accounted for and i went
on to other things. About two or three hours later, SO and i were giving
treats and noticed our great white carpet shark missing. We were SURE that
she was in the cage when we shut the door, but she never missed the nightly
treat call. We looked throughout the cage and found her poor lifeless body,
she had gotten her head stuck behind the litter box when i pushed it in. We
mistakenly counted fuzzy bodies, not noses and i will never forgive myself
for it. Please, if you have this type of litter box in the cage, make sure
that you are counting noses when you put it back in after cleaning. It will
save alot of heartbreak. Next, on a happier note, i would like to start a
ferret club/association in central Iowa. I need some advice and info on
this and also would like for anyone living out here to contact me if you are
interested in taking part. Feel free to email me with your comments, advice
and info - it would be greatly appreciated. Finally, my hubby and i want to
go on vacation to California to visit his family, but our ferret sitter was
not available (read mom and dad), we can board them at the vet clinic i used
to work at, but it requires a little over an hour drive and i have heard
that all the extra noise and commotion tends to upset them. If anyone has
suggestions or can help out, please let me know.

Thanks.
