A week after surgery, my Ruby had what we thought was a stroke. She lost
total control of the entire left side of her body. I won't go into detail
here but I 'think' her story might be in the archives. It was very painful
for me as we were so very closer, closer than any other companion. With
lots of love and care and physical rehabilitation Ruby regained total
control of her body though she only lived on 3 months after that. The
surgery was to remove a knob on her tail. sigh.

Abbey suffered a severe seizure. Thinking it was low blood sugar I
stupidly applied honey to her gums with my finger and she seized clutching
the tip of my finger. I held her close to my body not to jar her and
jumped around softly saying 'owwwwww, ouch, owwwwww, ouch'. I removed my
finger after her seizure. Two days later she seized horribly again and
after the seizure she had lost all senses, including her sight. She would
scream every few minutes. She was so frightened. It was a long ride to
the vet (50 minutes away). When we got there Larry raised her above his
head and turned back and forth sideways. You could see her eyes wavering.
His diagnosis was a brain tumor. Our options were to keep her sedated and
see if she healed or to help her leave. As painful as it was I had Larry
help her leave. She was given a sedative and I held her close for quite
some time and then she was given the lethal injection.

Neither of these girls had their brain necropsied so we don't know for
sure what happened.

We tend to see odd things here and as our vet said, if it is going to
happen it will probably happen to us.

Hugs to all. tle
