This is a state by state thing. Virginia will let you but it doesn't
"count" if it comes down to an "incident". We don't do these vaccinations
ourselves.

The original manufacturer of Galaxy-D very explicitly says not to use this
product in ferrets. There is no wavering on their parts. It is a loud
minority of ferret shelters that are the biggest proponents of using this
vaccine instead of Fervac-D from United Vaccines. There is also a group of
veterinarians that choose to use Galaxy-D instead of Fervac-D.

The AFA which is the largest of the American ferret associations requires
the use of Fervac-D for a ferret to enter a show hall. (This is a well
documented AFA policy so we are confidant we can state thast organization's
policy here for the anal retentive's ease of mind.) Some groups that do not
particularly like the AFA say it is because of kick backs. We think its
jealousy. This is also related to the Marshall Farms debates. (This is our
opinion.)

No legitimate study, formal or informal, has ever shown one vaccine to cause
more reactions than the other. At least one semi-former shelter operator
strongly states she won't use Fervac-D but also states she has never seen a
reaction to that vaccine. (This information has been posted here in the
FML.)

Some veterinarians have had what they consider excessive reactions to
Fervac-D and use Galaxy-D instead. (This information comes from several
sources including some of the vets and this mail list.)
