To anon, whose ferret won't eat anything but the chicken baby food...
 
        Yes, it's addictive.  We have all six eating it, although 5/6 still eat
their regualar food.  For the sixth, we mix the ferret chow in with it and he'll
get some that way.
 
        One problem with a diet of baby food is that the teeth build up a lot of
tartar and can develop ginigivitis.  then the ferret eats only bably food
because it hurts to eat the hard stuff.  Have your vet take a look at your
ferret's teeth during your next visit.
 
        Make sure that you have dry food available at all times.  Then gradually
space the baby food feedings farther and farther apart.  But don't try cutting
it off altogether - ferrets don't respond well to starvation tactics.....
