I have written this before, but someone brought the subject up again.

If I had to subject a friend to euthanasia (obviously we all hate to
do that, but sometimes it's probably best), I would want them to use
oral barbiturates.

I do not know how practical that might be for a ferret. As we know,
oral medications can be a problem. But that's the way most physicians
who commit suicide choose to go. I bow to their superior knowledge of
the subject.

There would be no suffocation, no scary sharp stick in the belly from
a stranger. It is quick, and if the vet is agreeable the animal can be
with friends as it goes to peaceful sleep.
