To Keith Johnson- it has been my experience that very young baby ferrets
cry whenever they are left alone.  A moan, sometimes quite loud.  A sad
sound.  To stop it, you either pick them up and hold them, or put them in
the cage with another (nice) ferret.  Now, a deaf ferret will scream!  The
first clue that any thing, even humans, is deaf, is the way it vocalizes.
They are atonal-lack inflection-and are usually very loud.  Guess they
don't even know they are doing anything.  Karen
