Check your local Lowe's - I was at mine tonight and as I was going out
saw a sign that said "Lowe's now carries wood stove pellets" and turned
to see two huge pallets of 40 lb bags. One was for $4.99 and the other
for $3.99!!! I grabbed two of the $3.99 bags and went back in and
bought them.

If you don't already know wood stove pellets are WONDERFUL for ferret
and cat litter. For cats it TOTALLY sucks up the urine odor!!! And when
you empty the pan it dumps out dry - the pellets break back down to
sawdust as they absorb all the moisture. It's the same compressed pine
sawdust pellets as Feline Pine and other pine litters.

Not sure what they charge for Feline Pine where you live but here it's
about $4.99 for a seven pound bag - about 71 cents per pound. If you
buy a 20lb bag - $12.99 - about 65 cents per pound. The $3.99 40 lb
bag of wood stove pellets at Lowe's? About 10 cents per pound!! With
two cats and four ferrets in the house I use a lot of litter - so the
savings using the wood stove pellets ends up pretty substantial! To
make it easy dealing with the big bags I use tall narrow containers
with a locking lid at Target (in the pet food section) You can pour
about 2/3 of the bag into here, put the rest in your garage, closet
or basement until you need it.
