-Did you ever get an eye exam?  The last one I got the doctor shined a pen
light over my eyes.  I don't think it would hurt to shine a light on an
animals eyes for a few seconds.  I woudn't do it for longer than that.  I
think the only bad effect would be temporary like, when you go inside a
dark house on a bright day.
