To Rochelle and Dave (and Shadow & Fezzik):

I can't speak of Vets in the Salem area but in case of emergency you might
want to contact Dr. Paul Phenix, DVM, PA. Unfortunately, he's in Milford,
NH, which is probably about roughly an hour's ride from Salem. If you
can't locate a reputable (concerning Ferrets) Vet in Salem, then maybe
you could at least give Dr. Phenix's office a call with any concerns you
might have. I highly recommend Dr. Phenix, he's the only Vet we'll take
our slinkies to. As is already known, we're now Ferret Friendly here in
NH but Dr. Phenix is one of those kind souls who treated Carpet Sharks
all along so he's a bit more educated in their care than most Vets in
the area who just started treating them once they became legal. Well,
here's the full info (hopefully you won't be needing it! 8-) :

                Care Hospital For Animals
                Paul H. Phenix, DVM, PA
                (603) 673-6101
                Route 101
                Milford, NH

(Day & Evening Appointments, 24 hr. Emergency Coverage)

As I said, hopefully this info won't be necessary for you!

While I'm here...

I just saw the cutest little silver-mitt kit last night! In the same Pet
store that we got our two slinkies (females) earlier this year. Yes, he's
a Marshall Farms kit (No flames please... 8-) but he has a great disposition
and it was hard to walk out of the store without him! My wife also fell in
love with him but she was the voice of reason, as we live in a condo and
already have two daughters (10 & 8 years old) two cats and two slinkies
and just found out a week ago that we have our own little (unexpected)
bundle on the way (yes, the proverbial "rabbit" passed away!), another
Ferret is probably not a good idea at this time! 8-)

Yours in Ferret-ing (AND Fathering! 8-) )
