Tanya
I read your mail on FML and I am really concerned. I hope I am wrong, but
it sure sounds like canine distemper. I wish I was not such an "expert" on
this, but I am the assistant director of a rescue in virginia and we are
overrun with it. I have some questions though: Are the pads of the feet
scaly? Does Canela have ocular discharge as well as nasal? Does she have
any tics or twitches that don't seem to go away? Are there any scabs under
the chin? Distemper is a killer with no cure. We have even had ferrets
come down with it from the vaccine (FERVAC-D) and the manufacturer is
studying it. Our shelter had 1 ferret contract it from the vaccine, and we
have had to put down a total of 6 other ferrets who contracted the disease.
I really hope i am wrong about this, but the symptoms you describe match the
ones of the ferrets that had distemper. I am keeping from fingers crossed
that it is not distemper.

[Moderator's note: You sure you don't mean you've had ferrets come down
with it *in spite* of the vaccine? BIG]
