Here at 24 Carat Ferret Rescue And Shelter in Las Vegas, Nv we currently
have 145 ferrets.  We have 95 shelter ferrets in house, plus one boarder,
long term.  50 ferrets are in foster homes.  The shelter is responsible
for the medical bills of the foster ferrets along with the shelter
ferrets.  Our current vet bill is at $2000, we pay in this weekly, with
a surgery scheduled this week.
 
Adoptions are at an all time low, but we have many great ferrets for
adoption.  We need help doing the adoptions at different Petsmarts.
 
Year to date turn ins are at 227, and 5-8 more scheduled to arrive this
week.  We have placed 146 ferrets in to homes this year.
 
Oue weekly basic food and litter expenses run from $50 to $200.  Not
includiing meds, vitamins, cleaning supplies, etc.
 
We do an average of 30 plus loads of laundy per week.
 
Its so sad to see so many ferrets in shelters across the USA.
