Audrey, we recommend vinegar and water for removing skunk smell.  I believe
diluted Odo-Ban is safe as long as you rinse it off good after the 15
minutes.  It works wonders on clothes and hands, etc when we do descenting
on baby skunks.  I have two undescented ferrets and my step-mom has three.
When we visit, they all get to play.  There is a lot of poofing going on,
but the smell always dissipates fairly soon.  It never lasts more than an
hour or so.  When Liu's anal glands were impacted and had to be expressed,
that stench lasted all day!  I tried to warn the vet to do it outside!
