Fleas are a difficult plague to fight.  The only thing that I have found
that works well (and for the long term) are the various powders based on
mineral salts such as what FleaBusters uses in their treatments.  This stuff
dehydrates the fleas and they will completely disappear in four to six
weeks!  I tried natural shampoos that were supposed to repell fleas and none
of them worked very well.  I was also warned that too frequent bathing of
ferrets causes dry skin and irritation.
 
I have a list of products that I have seen in stores around Seattle.  All of
them seem to work on the same basic principles: (Be *very* careful with the
these products: don't let any furries be around until the appilication
process is finished!)
 
1. FLEAGO.  It contains Sodium Tetraborate Decahydrate.
 
2. Petco's house brand of FLEAGO is PetGold.
 
3. "De-Lime"Inator by Hansens  1-800-HPS-5735
 
4.  BIO  Flea Halt! Powder by Farnam Pet Products,  P.O. Box 34820,
 
Phoenix, AZ.
 
I would look for Fleago (or related products by different manufacturers) at
a specialty pet store.  A store that specializes in natural foods and such
for animals will be more likely.  Tell the shopkeepers that it is similar to
the stuff that Fleabusters uses when they come to the house.  (If you have
Fleabusters where you live.)
