Christine,
It would almost seem that your older ferret has cardiomyopathy.  He should
be checked by a ferret knowledgeable vet.  MAny ferrets have enlarged hearts
and can get a long for some time, but you need to know what you are dealing
with, and how to provide the care.

and then days when we cannot slow him down!!
