Hi all:

For anyone interested in the declawing issue, our website has an article I
wrote on declawing last month. The link is:

http://www.neferrets.org/id41.htm

Click on the article titled, "Taking It All Off: The Reality of Declawing
a Ferret".

Hope it provides some info. Please note that the article doesn't take
into account the issue of declawing one or several toes due to medical
necessity (infection, fracture, etc), but addresses the issue of declawing
from a "vanity" or "damage control" perspective.

FYI, the article is NOT pro-declawing, so those who believe declawing a
ferret is OK may take some offense. The article was researched as to
the medical techniques and reality of the procedure, and written from a
viewpoint that it is NEVER acceptable to remove an animal's claws and part
of their toes simply to make the human's life easier (no more scratching)
or make the pet lower-maintenance.
