Hi to all!
First of all I want to thank all of those you wrote me about Chisai's
biting. I do appreciate it, I really do. However I do feel at this point
that my first post wasn't clear enough. Most that have written me have
thought that this was normal nipping. But Chisai does both. I don't mind
the playful nips from him or the other three. Sure, I know he is a kit
and he is learning, this is very different. Chisai is normally a loving,
playful ferret that likes to be cuddled and likes to give kisses. It's
like he gets this look and then starts hunting for someone. When he finds
them, he bites. And I do mean bites, he doesn't stop biting until he
brings blood. He has never bitten when he didn't bring blood. Scruffing
doesn't work to get him off, it usually takes at least another person to
pry him off and usually they get bit in the process too. In the last two
days he has bitten three more times. Last night he bit my husband. After
he got back from the ER (he had to have stitches) he said if he bit even
one more time, that Chisai had to go. He is concerned of our human kids.
What if he bit like that and we weren't here? They are older 12 and 15,
but still, he is getting to be a danger. After the attacks, he is calm
and sleepy. Climbs into his bed and goes to sleep. Then later on, will
search us out and "apologize", like he just couldn't help biting us. He
apologizes by licking our wounds and then laying his head on it too. I am
starting to believe that it is food related. If we are trying to move the
food bowl or take it out to fill it. He will bite if he's in the vicinity.
Other times the other humans are trying to give him treats. I know it
sounds like nipping, but this is most definitley not! The really scary
thing is that he still doesn't have all of his teeth in yet! Other times
he just wants to bite. He searched out my daughter reading on her bed and
bit her finger and on her back. And that was after biting me! After he
was done with her, he climbed into his bed and went to sleep. He has never
bitten us when he was being held. We don't use our hands to play with him,
just toys. Anyone out there with vicious biter experience? I am losing
this battle. Please, please help!

Also, me email provider was recently hacked. The hacker sent mega spam and
caused this provider to be placed on many anti-spam lists and some other
horrible things. So, if my email bounces back. I am sorry it is not
intentional. But anyone wanting to help me can email me at an alternate
address [log in to unmask]

Thanks again for everyone on the list. I love to hear the funny stories
and cry with those that have lost or have sick fuzzies. I do appreciate
all of those that have emailed me trying to help. I don't know if I told
you that or not. I do apologize if I have offended anyone, but I am a
very frustrated fand upset ferret mom right now. I know no excuse, but
sometimes its hard to get across the exact problem in emails.

Gratefully yours,
Paula
