Thanks for the clarification!  As soon as I deleted that day's FML, I
*knew* I'd just made a boneheaded mistake. :-p
 
It now makes sense to me.  The operative word is "can" - not "does" or
"will".
 
Thanks for a simple, elegent explanation for those of us who weren't
chem majors!
