There are two ferret "farms" in Manitoba; both use Dr. Anderson. Dave
Holden (has about 2,000 breeding animals) is contracted by and breeds for
Hagen. Hagen ferrets are the most common in pet stores on the West Coast of
Canada.

The other is CDC Pet Breeders. They breed everything from chinchillas to
hedgehogs to ferrets. Their ferrets tend to be large and gregarious. I
don't know much about them as they don't let people on their farms.

Along with the health certificate, did you receive paperwork that shows the
shots records? Usually at the top of that it tells you if the ferret is CDC
or Hagen.

If you have proof of rabies and distemper vaccinations (current within one
year of the crossing date) you should have no problems at all. They may
have to look it up/call Agri-Foods Canada, because the law only recently
changed. They can also request a veterinary examination if they feel like
it, so I'd advise you to cross during normal business hours (8am-4pm, Monday
to Friday). Otherwise, you're doing everything right and as long as you
know your stuff, they're less likely to give you a hard time.
