(This is a follow-up to my posting in issue 235 about this matter. As you'll
see, things are moving along. Since I think this is rather important, I am
also posting this to rec.pets on usenet as well as to Compuserve and GEnie.
Bill).

A New York City ferret lover has contracted with a lawyer to attempt to
overturn the NYC Health Department ordinance which bans ferrets in the
city. There are a HUGE number of (illegal) ferrets in New York City, partly
due to the problems of living with other pets in overcrowded and small
apartments. The lawyer is bringing an "article 78 procedure" (a procedure
to overturn city ordinances). The Health Department doesn't seem to care
much one way or the other (though they are currently in a mess over an owner
who refuses to turn over a ferret - will post that stuff some other time),
so it is unclear just who the opposition will be.

Anyhow, NOW seems to be a good time to show some support. I'm quite sure
that financial, legal or emotional support would be appreciated. You may:

1) Send me electronic mail, which I will forward to the crusader or...
2) Send me snail mail, which I will also forward (P.O. Box 258,
   Meridale, NY 13806) or...
3) You can contact his attorney: William Bryk, P.O. Box 6549, New York,
   NY 10150-1904 Phone: +1-212 371 3176.

Thanks... will keep you posted.

Bill
