Sand has been our only bad experience. Oh, it was fun enough for the
ferrets, they LOVED throwing sand all over the room! But it was sooooo
hard to clean up, and the ferret room floor, even when the sand was
swept/vacumed up every day, was always sticky. Plus I would track it to
other areas. At that time the ferret room was next to a carpeted floor,
which has now been changed to vinyl, but I'm not sure I'd do it again.
Maybe... I'm not one to deny my ferrets fun experiences, and we have
ferrets now that are new since the sand days.

We started with dry sand, purchased from Toys R Us, and after the first
week of daily sweeping up a pint of sand from the floor, I tried wetting
it. The ferrets thought it was lots of fun to dig holes and see them
fill with water. Sharon has some pictures of Kouri in the sand, she may
put them up on his web site.

So the bottom line is - it's very messy, but lots of fun.

Georgia - the left coast one...
