Dear Sandra,
This is a long shot, but on reading your post about your new and very scared
fuzzy, one possibility immediately struck me; can he see? I've seen kittens
display this sort of behaviour and it turned out they were almost blind. This
is not too bad in a "home" environment, but when taken to somewhere new it
must be horrifying.Hence the stiff legs etc.,literally petrified of moving
in case there's danger.

You could try simple tests yourself; waving chasey things just in front of
him and seeing if he takes any notice.Don't forget they have a good sense of
smell though,so that will compensate for a lack of sight. I hope this isn't
what's wrong, and he's just had some scary experience which will wear off
with lots of love and cuddles.

Cheers,
K.
