Dear List,

I have just adopted a Ferret which is about a month old. And I let him
live freely in the house after much reorganizing and "proofing". However
before I got my Ferret I use to have the occasional mice coming into my
house. I have been told if the Ferret does catch a mouse, I wouldnt even
know it because he might eat it.

I have a few questions :

Is there any chance that my Ferret might contract some disease or viruses
from eating the wild mice?

Right now I am feeding my Ferret with "Whiskas Junior dry food" and
occasionaly I give him the "Whiskas Junior canned feed with chicken or
meat". However, where I live specialized Ferret supplements like
"Ferrotone" are not available at all! So I have substituted it with a
supplement meant for cats which contains (Vitamins A,D3,E,B1,B2,B6,and
Taurin) in tablet form given 3-6 each day. Is this ok? He seems to
love it!

Besides this what would be important in his diet?

How do I teach my Ferret that biting people is not right? He loves to
nibbles and bite at my toes and fingers when they are in range. And
sometimes he gives a nasty bite. Will he grow out of it or he need to be
trained?

If anyone could help explain or direct me to the appropriate URL it would
be much appreciated.

regards
