I keep seeing everyone talk about tempers. I have yet, Thank Someone, had my
little ones SCREECH at me but they have been known to hiss. There are a few
things they are not allowed access to in my room and whenever I have to remove
them and give them a swift pat on the behind and a NO! they give me this look
like who-the-#@%!-are you! They can get real irritated when not allowed
somewhere since they think they own the place :) This has on occasion also
lead to hissing at me before running off to go terrorize something else :)
I usually try to get their attention again and tell them no and set them in
the cage. Ya just can't stand for backtalk from children! :) They soon come
out and are playing again and realize they did something wrong but I still
love them. Actually last night was the first time my little boy hissed -
because he has grown fond of scratching at the closet door and it is the most
annoting of noises (and closets are off limits). My little girl can get a
real attitude sometimes with anyone including her brother - she is very
persistent.
That brings me to a quick question. Does anyone have a ferret who totally
loves heights and exploring and will do anything to get off the ground where
they are or aren't allowed to go?? Brandy goes to the extreme of pushing
stuffed animals to places she wants to go and then climbing on them or
contorting herself backwards and unpside down if necessary to get that perfect
grip to pull herself with. I hate to leave them in the cage but no matter
how I arrange things she figures out a way and I just think it's too
dangerous for her with everything I must keep in my room (it's a dorm). Any
suggestions for stopping this habit - she even crawled on the hard drive and
up to a bed (3 ft high) by squirming between the springs and the mattress!
I don't want to discourage her interests too much but I'm running out of ways
to ferretproof -- the room is only so big (and the closets for hiding things
in <:) Thanx All - Angi, Brandy, & Blaze
