Just so you know where I'm coming from: I'm a science writer.  I enjoy
the biological diversity of the animal kingdom.  I like wolverines and
badgers as well as ferrets, otters and skunks, and I think most people
are intelligent enough to recognize that those animals are different.
Some species make good companion animals while others do not.  I'm into
educating people about science.  I generally find that if people want
more information, they'll ask for it.
