Dump the husband, and beat the kid.
 
Seriously though, you have some serious problems if your wants, rights,
and needs have no value, or consideration.  The husband's reactions are
bad enough, but your son trying to stomp your furkids?  I'd beat that kid
senseless.  Anyone who would willingly, an deliberately try to harm an
animal in such a manner has some serious psychological issues that need to
be dealt with.  You have more problems than just a disagreeable husband,
and son, and for the ferrets sake they need to removed from the home if
you are unable, or unwilling to protect them.
