I guess you know why I put on my World War 1 German steel helmet nowadays
... yep, that's to protect my noggin from all the beaten' about my head
that's come my way, especially since my last few postings.

Actually, I did get a few AttaBoys too, but for a guy such as I, as some
folks say, "half-a-bubble off plumb," is what I am. (If that "plumb" is a ?
to you, ask a brick layer or a carpenter what that means.)

If I may, please let me address the purpose of this forum, as I see it, and
as perhaps some few of you (although a precious few, it seems) also see it.

We're all here to "talk" to each other and to be as friendly and happy as we
can be. We want, first and foremost, to enjoy this medium. And, perhaps to
a lesser degree, we want to learn as much as we can from each other, but
preferably only when that learning doesn't grate our sensitivities. Or worse
yet, possibly threaten to upset our beliefs; some of which may not be based
on fact, but rather more on a desire to believe that which is "comfortable."

I hope you all agree with me, but should not this medium be dedicated just a
little to . . . learning? Just a little bit?

Yet, if you agree with me, and I ferverently hope you do, learning can be a
bit painful, because it may mean that "unlearning" has to take place as well.

God! It was agonizingly painful to read that young person's statement to
the effect that his want is to have fun and enjoyment. He wants all the
other stuff put where he does't have to read it.

Does it not seem that this young person has not yet developed a love of
learning? That is, just learning for learning's sake itself, let alone for
the benefit of the Frettchen(ferret)?

I take no offense to anybody's charges and affronts against me, and will not
take the time to defend myself. You know, such defense, when it comes
totally unsolicited from others, is so much sweeter.

May we live by the hope that we talk without telling, but instead make our
points by Socratic querrying.

Like: What do you think ferrets ate 2,000 years ago? Man! that one was
perfect.

Please I implore you all on bended knee, please read Martin's FOOD PETS DIE
FOR.

As written above, I don't consider myself a pot stirrer, but rather, Hee hee
hee, it seems there's a little devil in me who likes to get the pot
bubbling, now and then, but ... just a little.

This closure following is especially appropriate to Food Pets Die For; i. e.,

Lupis est homo homini. [L.] Men prey on one another.
