I have been a lurker here for some time, and a *very* happy ferret owner
for a half dozen years. I live in Massachusetts, a land not terribly
friendly to our little fuzzie buddies. I'm writing this in response to
the question of vets in this area.

At Angel Memorial, there is an exotic specialist named Dr. Connie Orcutt,
who I found to be just spectacular. Jackie, my fuzzie, had been mopey for
a week or so, and I had thought it was a combination of the
season, as she seems less active in mid winter than when the weather's
warmer, and the fact the she is getting to be an old broad in ferret
years. Well, I came home from work and her head was covered with blood,
obviously coming from her right ear. I got her to Angel Memorial, and had
to hold the poor little critter in my arms for an hour and a half while
they contacted the exotic specialist, Dr. Orcutt, on her day off and she came
in to Angel. My poor baby couldn't stay in her travel box, because her
balance was severely screwed-up, and she kept falling over, so I had to
hold her.

There were dogs barking, and the normal vet waiting room noises, and
she was in such obvious pain that all she did was look at me and sigh a
lot. Obviously, this story has a happy ending, but Dr. Orcutt was just so
helpful and knowledgable. She even made sure the staff was supplied with
raisins, and they are Jackie's Raison d'entre......sorry about that...

They are amazing pets. Beautiful, affectionate, self-sufficient, witty,
wildly intelligent, creative, and, hey, I have a realistic attitude about
my pet, right? Just the best in the world.

Take your fuzz bucket to Angel, and tell 'em Jackie's dad sent you....
