Hmm... Lessee... Marshall Pets for one. Those ferret folks closest to
Marshall physically that actually have a chance of knowing more about whats
going on there (Kim would fit into this group). Several of the ferret
clubs belonging at that point to LIFE under whose umbrella that articles
were published. At least one of the founding clubs of LIFE left the
organization over the articles. These articles had the net effect of
losing a lot of credibility for LIFE. Since then however the author's
influence is waning in online forums other than his own - fortunately.

The few writers here on the FML that dared question are the minority of
the folks that dispute the articles. The FML had long been the vehicle
through which misinformation and propaganda had been spread - by
publishing all views the FML can be used that way. That isn't "bad" its
just a side effect of free speech in general. An unfortunate thing about
the net is that anyone can claim to be an entire organization and publish
just about anything they want. People can write such articles and because
they are relatively anonymous they can seem more important than they are.
This could apply to us too. In the "real" world we are just cogs helping
groups such as the AFA in minor ways. Because we write a fair amount on
the net including the FML our importance seems magnified to those whose
only real contact with other ferret folks is through the net.

Those that dispute the articles actually have far more credentials than
the authors. The main credentials for the author are those particular
posts which is a circular logic problem.

[Moderator's note: An exchange about PETA was deleted here (with zen's
knowledge) since PETA topics aren't appropriate for the FML. BIG]

What does its UK origins have to do with anything? Xenophobia is ugly.
