I would strongly suggest going outside of NYC to Rutherford, NJ to visit
Dr. Beeber.  Rutherford is not far at all from the Lincoln Tunnel (maybe
about 15-20 minutes) and Dr. Beeber is a phenomenal ferret vet.  I used to
live in Secaucus and took all my fuzzies to see Dr. Beeber.  He works with
the Rutherford Animal Hospital, his prices are great, he has ferrets of his
own (which is always a good sign!) and can be reached at 201-933-4111.  He
is also an excellent surgeon.  Good luck!
