Hi all--

Anyone have any ideas of what kind of store might carry the pine pellets
we've been discussing as litter?

I've tried Menard's (building supply), Pet Food Warehouse, and the area feed
stores. And no one at those places had any ideas, either. I live in
Northern MN, you'd think I'd be able to find them around here somewhere!

I did buy some other pellets, "Barnaby Farms Pet Bedding" is what it's
called, and it seems to work the same way--turning to sawdust when wee-wee
hits it. And it smells much better (woodsy) than deoderized kitty litter.
My main concern is that the bag says "dust free" and "Made from 100% natural
recyclables" and doesn't say what kinds of recyclables, exactly, the pellets
are made from. This stuff is expensive, $9 for 20 pounds. I only hope it
lasts awhile. But it's a MN company, so I think I'll call them and ask.

I'd already decided to stop using clumping litter for the respiratory
reasons I've seen posted here. Then I found other reasons; Pepper, being
male, wees in the middle of the box and poohs in the corner ... therefore,
he'd step in the wet places and the litter would clump between his toes. I
also found it clumped in his fur. He's an itchy little guy as it is, (no
fleas, btw)--he doesn't need other gunk making him itch MORE.

So far, Pepper seems not to mind the change in litter stuff. He dove in it,
tried to eat some but changed his mind, and is using it. I made sure to
leave pooh in the corner so he'd know what it was for! The dog, on the
other hand, is going to great lengths to try to eat it. Blech. Weirdo. If
it's cedar of one of those other *bad* woods, what sort of reaction should I
watch for? Coughing, wheezing, etc? (It definately doesn't smell like
cedar.)

One more question: Has anyone found Totally Ferret anywhere in MN? I'm in
Duluth, and I can't find it anywhere. If it's available in the Cities,
could someone send me a quick note of where to find it so I can pick some up
the next time I get down there?

Thanks much,
