For something as apparently simple, some questions pose me reall problems.
I don't know what an itchy throat sounds like!  (Such are the trials of an
Internet consultant.)
 
Any cough or wheeze could conceivably be due to heart disease, or could
be grinding teeth.  My suggestion - thos one should be seen (and heard)
by your vet and if necessary, a good chest X-ray...
