I want to thank everyone again for their sympathetic notes & encouragement.
I hope I haven't missed responding to anyone directly.

Our experiences, good & bad, are valuable to every ferret owner. Please
don't be afraid to share. How would newbies to the ferret world know that
items as innocent as a toilet-paper roll or a left-over piece of linoleum
rolled up in the closet are potential death traps for ferrets? As
difficult as it may be to share these painful experiences, keep in mind
that you may be sparing someone else the pain you felt, & prevented the
suffering or death of an innocent creature. And sometimes it just feels
good not to have to carry the pain of the loss alone.

Thank you all for being there for me during a very dark time.
