I don't agree that Jennifer should have to apologize for thinking ferrets
are smelly creatures. She is entitled to her opinion. Heck, I am not
too keen about wet dog smell, and I don't think I need to apologize
because I don't care for the smell wet dogs produce. Skunk isn't one of
my favorite odors, either, but I am not going to run around the woods
apologizing to any skunk I can run into for thinking they stink. (And
then have to apologize to myself for stinking like skunk when I get
sprayed trying to apologize!) If my coworker smells like garlic and I
mention it to my husband when I get home that night, I am not going to
run into work and apologize to my coworker that I found his/her garlic
breath offensive.

I can understand being upset with Ben Stiller trying to use an
unfortunate situation to gain publicity, (if anything I feel sorry for
him because the poor thing thinks he's funny) and I am not too favorable
about Joy Behr from The View wanting to make ferret coats (as you don't
normally see cat or dog coats out there) but demanding an apology for not
liking an odor is carrying things a little too far which then makes Ben
and Jennifer and California and other anti-ferret people say the ferret
community is nuts and are radicals.

We really need to pick our battles here. Switch and Lily, I think it's
time to fire up the John Deere and dig a big hole for this one...

Kelly White in Massachusetts
with Punkie, Amber, Scootie, and Joshie the "smelly creatures"
and Natasha, T.J., Smokey, Parker, and Belle the "fortunate to be of the
acceptable cat population"

[Moderator's note: I agree that this topic has been going on for a while,
though until very recently there has been new info to talk about. I do
think it will probably begin to die down now. If it doesn't and nothing
new happens I'll "suggest" that more strongly in a day or two :-) BIG]
