Why don't you like the idea of putting them all in one big cage together?
If they get along OK, I don't see any reason to keep them separate.  I've
always kept all my ferrets in the same cage, whether I had two, three or
four at them time, and they seemed perfectly happy with it, once they
worked out who was boss...
