My opinion?  Ditch that vet!  Wanting to amputate a crook tail with no
evidence of pain is enough to show that the vet is way TOO eager to do
surgery, especially when more than one other vet disagrees.  The
anesthesia alone could kill the ferret.  Why risk it?  Find another vet.
