this is going to make everybody else on the list jealous, but in Ontario,
it is illegal to not rent to people because they have pets.  I double
checked to be sure and here's a link that gives more info:

I have rented in waterloo and have had minor problems such as neighbours
complaining about my parents' dog barking when he was visiting us.  but
if you just have ferrets I don't think it would be a problem to other
people.  I tried to make sure the places I rent from is pet friendly
though.
