Hi Lance, Dawn, and Pooter,

I recently read a couple of warnings about cages:

1. Be sure that Pooter won't be able to worm his way partway out a
spring-latched door. Once he gets his ribs past the door, he might get
stuck where the pressure of the door could constrict circulation to his
organs. The FURO Book of Ferrets says this can be fatal in a short time.

2. Beware of soldered wire cages. The lead in the solder can be
ingested and cause lead poisoning over time. The FURO Book suggests
painting such cages with an epoxy-based paint to prevent ingestion of
lead, or even better, getting a welded wire cage instead.

I'm sure other people will have suggestions on dealing with the nipping.
Good luck with him, and happy ferret-keeping!

Dennis
