I'd personally say just buy the Iams.  A $15-$20 bag lasts me for three
months, so it isn't much of an investment, even for us poor students.
The few times I tried switching to cheaper foods, I wound up giving the
remainder of the bags to my mother's cats.  Kit'n Kaboodle gave them
the runs, and the food coloring in everything else made for worrisome
red droppings.
