(Continued from yesterday s FML . . .)

The box that Jeffrey was in finally stopped. After a while they were taken
out of the box and placed in a very large box that had a see through in the
front. There was food, water, a bunch of neat things to chew on, and even a
nice blanket. All of the ferrets seemed to be having a ball except Jeffrey.
He couldn t forget his white angel Sprite and her cries for help. He just
laid in the corner with a tear in his eye and thought about her.

The other ferrets would try to get Jeffrey to play or war dance but it was
hopeless. Then one day the cage opened and an older ferret was added to the
cage. This was new. Usually when the cage was opened one of the other
ferrets left but never had one come in from the outside. Jeffery took notice
of the guy when he came in. He was immediately attacked by all of the other
young kits as they war danced all over and around him. He just sat there and
let them bug him until they tired of it. This intrigued Jeffrey. How could
someone actually sit still, get mauled by the others, and not get upset?
Jeffrey knew that he could learn a lot from this new guy.

After awhile, the old ferret came over to Jeffrey and sat down right in
front of him. He introduced himself as Opus. They started talking and soon
they had become friends. Over the next couple of weeks Opus began trusting
Jeffrey and entrusted him with the information that Opus used to be a local
leader in the FLO. He said that he had gotten too old to keep up with all of
the workings of the FLO and had retired. He was waiting for that nice family
to come in and take him home. He decided that Jeffrey would make a great FLO
agent so he taught Jeffrey all that he would need to become a successful FLO
operative. Finally a older lady walked by and stared through the front of
the glass window for a while and then she came inside and took Opus home.

Jeffrey sat there thinking to himself that he wasn t sure that he liked
making friends because they all seem to leave him. He decided that the joy
and companionship that he did enjoy during the times that they were together
were worth the effort to make friends.

The next major milestone in his life happened a few days later. A women came
in, and after holding him, took him to her home. When he got there, he was
put in a small cage that was about three times as long as him and about two
times as wide. There was a old blanket type thing, a dirty bowl with some
water in it, and some kind of strange dry food in a dish. The entire time
that she was putting him in the cage he could "feel" that something wasn t
right.

Once he got settled in the cage he decided to take a nap. He finally fell
asleep for a short while. During the process of waking up from the nap,
before he had opened his eyes, he could "feel" a presence watching him. He
opened his eyes and immediately pushed himself back into a corner. Staring
at him from outside the cage was four CATS!!! (To be continued . . . )
