Would someone be so kind as to discuss the Ferret Jills Estrus Cycle as well
as the the tricky topic well know as False Pregnancies.

I recently received information from a breeder who stated that there seems
to be an unusually high rate of false pregnancies the past 2 breeding
seasons, at least in her area of the country (East Coast). She said that
she has experienced 10 (false pregnancies) just this year alone!!

It is well known that some jills have a tendency to have multiple false
pregnancies. When this happens, they are usually spayed and become pets
(from a breeder's point of view). My question is "How common are false
pregnancies?" Does anyone have have an explaination for these false
pregnancies? I remember reading in a past post that ECE situation (on the
East Coast) may be the cause of the high rate of false pregnancies. Has
anyone done any research on this?

Another problem seen in breeding is reabsorption of the kits before they are
born. I have heard this before but not experience this.

Anyone with information on these topics please post them to FML.

Thanks
