Yes I've heard of this problem, and talked to a couple of vets earlier
this summer who were investigating it. There have been a several
reported cases over the last year and a half or so, all in kits or
young ferrets at stores or distributors.

So far treatment with vitamin K seems to cure the problem, and the last
I heard, there were no further problems in these ferrets. There are no
signs of contagion and they have not yet found an environmental or
other agent that may be causing it.

I forwarded your email address to the vets I know involved. If you
don't hear from them in a few days, let me know.
