Hey Everybody!

Finally winter has arrived in Fairbanks and there is enough snow on the
ground for letting ferrets tunnel. So, last night I first took Patch
outside. He walked around the porch until he walked onto the snow that had
blown onto the porch. Then, Patch looked at the door, then he looked at
me. Then I picked him up and plopped him into the snow at the bottom of
the porch stairs. Patch shook the snow off himself and bounded up the
stairs to the door. Then he looked at the door and looked at me. So, I
let him inside.

By this time, Lily had awoken from her snooze. So, I put on her harness
and took her out onto the porch. She walked around the porch and tried to
tunnel into the snow-dust on the porch. So, I plopped her in the deeper
snow and she had blast for about 30 seconds. Then she ran to the front
door and looked at the door and looked at me. So, I let her inside and she
ran to the litterbox, pooped, and ran back to the door. So, I re-bundled
myself up and went back outside.

This time Lily had a blast! She tunneled so well that all I could see was
the top of the snow cracking and a pink leash coming out of the snow.
Every few seconds she would stick her head up for air and shake the snow
off herself.

Then I saw a large dog down the street off-leash with an owner who couldn't
control the dog (she was calling the dog and it wasn't coming), so I wisked
Lily inside before the dog caught a whiff of Lily and decided to
investigate.

My fear was based on an experience with my Hobo-dog (a now deceased
terrier-sheltie mix) who was attacked by a large dog as it's owner ran
after the dog and yelled for it. I wasn't taking any chances with sweet,
sweet Lily!

This time Lily seemed quite depressed about being stuck inside and
desperately tried to tunnel into the snow that fell off my shoes. So, I
sacrificed my good rice and let her tunnel in a box with rice! Both Lily
and Patch had a ball! Now I need more rice. I like rice.

Hope you enjoyed the antics of Patch and Lily as much as I did!
