hey, everyone...

i had planned to have a notice on my site by now about helping Alicia
at Ferretwise...but between being swamped and not feeling so hot...and
then a problem with working on my site...the announcement has not
gotten up there...

Alicia..i am so sorry...

ok..here is a rough idea of how we can help her...she has put out
pleas...but she does not beg...:)

I DO!!!!

let me say that Alicia has always been there for everyone asking for
help..even those not asking..but her just seeing they need help... she
has gone over and above being a shelter...to education and working to
change the laws to make things safer and better all around for out
ferrets...

i know many shelters do many of the things Alicia does...
i know many are hurting...just as Alicia is...
but i can not help everyone all at once...

my heart said "Alicia" this time....
i asked her what she needs...
here is her reply...and she gave me permission to post it...

HI Kat,

Thanks for asking- I hate to be a burden-- it just isn't fun now with a
north wall rotting through ( 1st floor) and the floor falling into the
ground)

I have nothing to give the ferrets that doesn't arrive in donations..
and now I have flies etc all downstairs due to the open areas ..

It is taking us all we have just to try to get the funds to slowly get
the building repaired before cold sets in...

We are going through 144 jars of turkey baby food (plus) a month to
supplement the seniors. We have an order in at Walmart where it is 92
cents a jar-- so anyone wanting to send a walmart gift card could help
with that...

we are ALL out of nutrical / nutristat and ferretone currently --
as well as treats which they are starting to learn to live without
(totally ferret treats and n- bones) .

We have no vet fund currently -- the last 2 major surgeries were
covered by the hospice dads... if folks want we would be happy to
have them send donations to the vet in Keene ( Park Place vet - acct #
706) -- listed on the SOS shelter listing. We are not taking several
ferrets in for dentals & blood work ( suspected renal issues ) - as we
have no money to do so--- we need to pay as we go.

It has sadly come down to we can do melatonin implants ( we have about
20 on hand) and love & food but no resources for anything else. We
still owe the accountant $650 for doing our federal filing & state
filing this year..

I have never seen it so darned bad... but crying doesn't help. I don't
expect folks can help I assume we are all in a bad way.... I have no
clue how we will even keep heat in the furnace this year... last winter
it took 60% of hubby's paycheck just to cover oil.... now it has gone
up significantly

I keep hoping things will get better-- but I am not seeing any lights
at the end of the tunnel.

the hospice locations...

treats (totally ferret treats and n- bones), nutri-cal, nutri-stat,
ferretone....

are there any "bodies" near to her that could lend a hand with the
construction? or whatever she needs physically?

a donation of a tank of fuel oil for when winter hits?

donations to the vet so she has a reserve to be able to take kids in?
