Hi Kent,
Well just stop feeding Alex in a food bowl, take the bowl out of his
cage..just put his food on the floor and watch what happens..will he
continue pooping on his food?  Perhaps the combination food bowl and food
is making him thinking it's the litter pan..perhaps only the food is..If
there is no other way: just feed him 3 times a day and take the bowl out
of his cage.  Somehow he has to learn to break with this habit.  Please
let me know how he is doing, I am familiar with these kinds of problematic
ferrets since I have a shelter in Holland (Ferret's Friend Forever).  Our
specialism are: problematic ferrets (agressive/biting/attacking/ill and old
ones etc).
