My first "fake" ferret sighting was this saturday morning cartoon special
on abc when i was about 12 or so .. It was a cartoon called Zucchini, and
it was about this ferret who befriends an armadillo and a crow (?) trying
to find its way back to its "homeland" Oklahoma.. and ends up being kept
as a pet.. It was a cute cartoon, i think a half an hour long.. Has
anyone else ever seen this? It was about 10 years ago or so .. I had it
on tape and still do but it is in very sad shape..

My first "real" ferret sighting (so i thought) was when i was about 1994
when my friend made me go with her to a pet shop to get a ferret (eww, why
would you want one of those .. they are mean and they stink.. ewww) but,
I immediately fell in love with her.. her name was (is) Squeakers and she
was (is) the sweetest thing.. She was the pet store pet that they didn't
want anymore .. she was 2 years old then ..

When i brought her by my house to show my mother, she did not want to even
look at it, let alone have it in her house.. But after i moved out and
acquired my first in about March 1996, and she got to know them, she also
fell in love (who doesn't?) with them and is even known as the ferret lady
at her work ;)

But as for my real first ferret sighting .. I just recently moved and i
was looking through a box of pictures and found one of me holding a huge
sable! I must have been about 8 years old.. My neighbors at that time, i
just found out, had ferrets for years and according to my mother, i was
always begging her to get me one after i met all of thiers.. and i don't
even remember this!

As for cloth chewing.. Out of 10 total ferrets that i had only 1 and a
half ever ate cloth.. I say half because Ricochet only does it to his toys
and we have to be careful.. Quinn, on the other hand, is very very picky
about what kind of cloth she will eat.. and is usually unpredictable
about it.. One time i opened up my underwear drawer to find she has taken
a little ferret sized bites out of a good percentage of the clothing in
there .. sawed the straps of every bra that was in there (i don't think
she ate these, just chewed them) .. ruined a very expensive bikini .. she
has been known to really enjoy mesh laundry bags, blankets and sheets with
odd textures, and lingerie.. Don't think I am a bad ferret mommy because
of this, she does strike without warning and I thank God she never had a
blockage .. I really don't think it would signify a medical problem..
Quinn is definitely a very healthy, active ferret who is hardly bored, i
just think she is a weirdo :) Try fleece blankets.. I never had a problem
with them .. They don't look too tasty either :) Good Luck!

Hugs to the fuzzies!
Nichole and the 9 blanketsharks..
