I also have ferrets that have about 1/2 the house to free roam in. It
would be like a punishment to cage them instead is there anyway to keep
them in your bedroom so the are confined but not in such a tight area?
Mine live in the bottom drawer of a 4 drawer dresser. The three have
slowly taken over the whole dresser. I really don't mind. The bottom
drawer is now the lost and found. The dresser is in my bedroom and during
the day they are kept in the room. When I come at night I open the door
and they wake up. come out and play for 10 mins, go back to bed for an
hour and then get up for about 3 hours and play. My point is can you pick
up all the cords in the room, put a radio in there on low and confine them
to the bedroom? I have a pet feeder for the food and the water. They do
really well with it. Mine only know that the room is home and if they get
into trouble and they get scolded, they go to the room, I don't put them in
the cage, I have 3 of them, but I don't like it. My bedroom is
ferretproof, it didn't take long to do it. Please try to find anyway to do
something like this, sitters are nice, but 6 weeks is a long time and you
could come home to a bunch of angry babies on a revenge train from the
worst place on earth. They could be a changed bunch due to the
confinement, and if the sitter has no time for them that day, they are
confined all but the 5 mins they were there. I'm sorry to put these ideas
in your head, but it does happen to the best of us.
